We received several calls and emails today from people who were being recruited via the internet to be employees of Galco Steel to assist in the collection of debts.
This is a scam, and the people operating it have no connection to Galco Steel. This scam is often called the Career Builder scam after the website where it was started.
A scam artist pretends to represent a company. He posts job openings online, or scours job sites for people that have posted their resumes. Once first contact is made, the person provides you with information about account transfers. You are told that you will keep a percentage in exchange for depositing checks in to your personal account and then transferring the balance to the recruiters account.
The scam artist then sends you forged or stolen checks which you deposit. A few days later the FBI shows up at your door, and the person that recruited you has made a bunch of money. You go to jail or end up in financial ruin.
Galco has not posted ANY job openings online at any site. Any opening you see advertised is likely attached to this scam.
Please contact us at (877) 425-2648 to report any postings you find so that we can work with the companies hosting the advertisement to remove it.
